Self-proclaimed 'World Boss' deejay Vybz Kartel again did not face the judge in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday as was expected.
The deejay did arrive at the court unlike the previous day when he wasn't taken, but this time his case wasn't mentioned due to the file being unprepared.
One of his lawyers, Tom Tavares-Finson, speaking outside the court stated that "We need to get it off the ground. We can't deal with it (the case) if he is not before the court."
He also declared that they will be able to "deal with" the criminal charges laid against Kartel "in short order."
Tavares-Finson did not disclose how his team intends to "deal with" the charges, but complained that they are being hampered by the failure on the part of prosecutors to have the artiste, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, appear before a judge.
The attorney also complained that his client's business interests are being prejudiced and appealed to the entertainer's business partners not to rush to judgement.
He pointed out that Palmer has contractual obligations both locally and overseas and said those matters are in abeyance while he is in custody.
"I would really ask persons who have responsibility for him in terms of his contractual obligations and his management contracts to have a little patience and not to rush to judgement," the attorney urged.
In terms of Kartel, yesterday, there were less supporters gathered outside the courthouse than the previous day and some persons weren't even aware that he had entered the courtroom at 10:30 a.m. with his lawyers.
Hours later when he exited, they were quick, however, to get pictures as he was rushed into a police bus.
The police bus sped off, escorted by other cops armed with their high powered weapons.
One person described the whole affair by stating, "Yuh wah see him with him purple suit and him chalk white face."
Kartel was arrested last Friday at a hotel in New Kingston when cops from the Flying Squad swooped down on a room occupied by the deejay and three other persons. A small quantity of ganja was found and all four were arrested and charged for ganja possession.
Vybz Kartel has been in custody for murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in relation to the July murder of Barrington 'Bossie' Burton , a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park.
